People Online is a WordPress shop. Well, we were in the past. We're expanding into other things these days, particularly Drupal, because WordPress doesn't satisfy all of our client needs. But the question remains, why is WordPress such a ubiquitous suggestion for citizen journalism projects?

It is, of course, easy to use and easy to customize. But it's slow loading. So I'm going to spend the morning playing with Maneno to see whether it can solve some of the problems People Online faces: (unordered list follows)
